About the Author
Nancy Middleton’s short fiction has appeared in The South Carolina Review and her author interviews have been published in undomesticatedmag.com and Glimmer Train, one of which was anthologized in the Writers Ask series. She has also been a featured writer at the Clemson Literary Festival.
A native of Rochester, New York, Nancy was raised by two educators who loved American history and travel. She and her siblings were regularly taken to museums, cultural landmarks, and historic sites, including one summer spent traversing the country to visit the national parks. An avid reader from an early age, especially of historical fiction, she often connected those stories with the places she visited. These experiences, along with a growing awareness of the complexities of history, inspired her interest in storytelling and continue to inform her work.
Nancy holds degrees in international relations from Allegheny College and Georgetown University, and worked for many years as a freelance writer and editor for Washington, D.C.-based organizations, including The Brookings Institute. She has also taught English—most recently at California State University, Monterey Bay—to international students from over 125 countries.
An East Coaster turned West Coaster, Nancy lives in Monterey, California, where she enjoys walking by the ocean, good wine, and other perks of her adopted state.
